Luxottica Leonardo Del Vecchio dead
Leonardo Del Vecchio, 87, died on Monday. He created the eyewear company Luxottica in a
trailer and converted an ordinary item into a popular fashion accessory, making him
one of Italy's richest people in the process. Del Vecchio was praised as one of the "entrepreneurs
of greatest success in all of the globe". According to Italian media, Del Vecchio passed away in
a hospital in Milan. No specific cause of death was given. Del Vecchio began his life in an
orphanage in Milan and went on to become one of the wealthiest manufacturers in Italy.
Luxottica, a global leader in fashion eyewear, owns numerous renowned designers, including
Armani, Burberry, and Chanel. With $24.5 billion, Del Vecchio and his family were placed No. 60 last year.
