Matteo Berrettini Withdraws Wimbledon
Due to health concerns, Matteo Berrettini, Wimbledon's runner-up from the previous year,
withdrew from the grass-court Grand Slam competition hours before his planned first-
round match on Tuesday. When Berrettini withdrew, the All England Club made the announcement,
and he posted about it on Instagram, expressing his "heartbreak" about it.
He is the second well-known player to withdraw from the draw due to illness in the first two days.
The eighth-seeded Italian practiced on Centre Court with Rafael Nadal last week.
Cristian Garin, who is rated 44th, was slated to be Berrettini's opponent in the opening round on Tuesday.
