NL MVP Phillies Bryce Harper Injury News

Bryce Harper, a hitter for the Philadelphia Phillies and the current NL MVP, broke his left thumb

during a game against the San Diego Padres on Saturday at Petco Park (GameTracker). After

taking a 97 mph fastball from Blake Snell to the hand, Harper left the game right away. Harper

will have additional tests in the coming days, according to the Phillies, who promptly disclosed the fracture.

They didn't give a rehabilitation schedule for him. Harper appeared to tell Snell that he knows he didn't

hit him on purpose as he went off the field after Snell apologized. Harper was formally placed on

10-day disabled list by the Phillies on Sunday and replaced by outfielder Mickey Moniak.
