Joker 2 confirmed by director Todd Phillips. Joaquin Phoenix will return for Joker: Folie à Deux
The Clown Prince of Crime is returning in a new solo film. Todd Phillips, the writer and director of The
Joker, shared a snapshot of a script cover on Instagram, indicating that he's presently working on
Joker 2 — or Joker: Folie à Deux, as the screenplay puts it. Along with Phillips' snapshot of the
screenplay, he also included a photo of Joaquin Phoenix, who plays the Joker, reading
the script. This appears to confirm that Phoenix will return to reprise his part in the 2019 film's sequel.
Phillips' co-writer Scott Silver, whose name appears on the sequel's screenplay, is also back
for the sequel. Folie à Deux is a psychiatric word for a mental illness that affects two or more people,
generally from the same family. It's probable that this film will debut Batman and establish a link
between him and the Joker. The title alludes to a bond that is more than just family.
According to the original film's narrative, Thomas Wayne might be Joker's biological father.
